I have a security freeze on my credit reports. Can I still use Credit Karma?

Credit freezes generally restrict access to your credit reports in order to help you protect your credit. After you sign up for Credit Karma, you can add a security freeze to your reports without affecting your Credit Karma account. Security freezes only affect your access to Credit Karma during the sign up process.

What if I remove the security freeze(s)?

Once you remove the freezes from your TransUnion and Equifax credit reports, you should be able to sign up for a new account on Credit Karma. This article contains more information about freezing and unfreezing your credit with the credit bureaus: How to Freeze Your Credit

What if I have a bypass code or temporary lift?

Though you may be able to temporarily remove a freeze for other purposes, like applying for credit, a bypass code or temporary lift will not work to sign up for Credit Karma.

I’m already signed up. Can I put a security freeze on my reports and still use Credit Karma?

Once you’re already signed up, you can add a security freeze to your reports without affecting your Credit Karma account. Security freezes only block your access to Credit Karma during the sign up process.
