My return was rejected because the SSN for my dependent does not match what the IRS has on file, what do I do?

If you are getting a message on Credit Karma Tax telling you that the Social Security Number (SSN) for your dependent does not match what is in the IRS database, one option is to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 1-800-772-1213 to verify that what they have in their database for your dependent’s SSN matches what you’re entering on your tax return.

If you find that the dependent SSN you entered when trying to e-file matches your dependent’s SSN in the SSA database, your only option will be to mail in (paper-file) your return.
