#Good news! The IRS has extended the tax deadline to April 18th! As long as you submit your federal return by midnight on 4/18/2018, you won't be considered a late filer for your federal return. Direct debit tax payments that are submitted with your federal return (or on the IRS website) by 4/18 are also considered timely filed ×

What is an EIN and why would I need one for my tax return?

EIN stands for Employer Identification Number and serves as a 9-digit number to identify a business. Generally, if you own a business you’ll need an EIN. To see if you need an EIN for your business, check the IRS website here.

If you have children and paid child or dependent care expense to a care provider that has an EIN instead of an SSN, you’ll need their EIN to claim the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
