#Good news! The IRS has extended the tax deadline to April 18th! As long as you submit your federal return by midnight on 4/18/2018, you won't be considered a late filer for your federal return. Direct debit tax payments that are submitted with your federal return (or on the IRS website) by 4/18 are also considered timely filed ×

Do I have to file a state return? How do I do that?

Depending on where you live or work, you may have to file a state return. If you do need to file a state return, and we support your forms and situations, we’ll walk you through it.

These 7 states don’t require income taxes:

  • Alaska
  • Florida
  • Nevada
  • South Dakota
  • Texas
  • Washington
  • Wyoming

New Hampshire and Tennessee tax income from interest and dividends, but not wages. These involve special filings Credit Karma Tax does not support.

We’ll ask you some questions about where you live and work to help you determine if you need to file state income taxes. At this time, we don’t support nonresident, part-year resident or multiple state filings.
