Using your Form W-2 to file with Credit Karma Tax

What if my employer has a foreign address?
Credit Karma Tax does not currently support the use foreign addresses for Form W-2, but we hope to in the future.

What if I have more than 4 entries for Box 12 on my W-2?
We are currently only able to support 4 entries for Box 12 of the W-2 form. Please note that reporting Box 12 amounts with the DD code on your tax return may not be necessary.

What if my W-2 earnings (Box 1) are $0?
You will need to enter an amount for your earnings if you received a W-2, even if that amount was $0. If you are entering $0 in Box 1, be sure to enter the correct (nontaxable) code from Box 12 of your W-2 using the drop down menu. Credit Karma Tax only supports the use of the nontaxable Box 12 code Q: Nontaxable combat pay.

What if there isn’t an Employer's state ID number in Box 15 of my W-2?
You can leave the entry for Employer's state ID number in Box 15 on your return if one isn’t listed on your W-2

Does Credit Karma Tax support filings from US territories? Does Credit Karma Tax support W-2AS, W-2CM, W-2GU, W-2PR or W-2VI?
Credit Karma Tax supports tax filings for the 50 states and the District of Columbia using Form w-2. We do not currently support filings from US territories using a W-2AS, W-2CM, W-2GU, W-2PR or W-2VI.

My Utah state ID is only 11 digits, what do I enter?
If you are entering an Employer's state ID number in Box 15 on your Credit Karma Tax return, you need to enter your 11 digit code followed by WTH.

  • If the Employer's state ID number in Box 15 on your W-2 is “77777777777”, you would enter “77777777777WTH”

I’m having trouble finding my EIN
Your Employer ID (EIN) is located in Box b of your W-2. Your Employer ID is 9 digits, and typically appears on your W-2 in this format: 77-7777777. You don’t need to enter any letters when entering your Employer ID on your Credit Karma Tax return.

Multi-State Filing
Unfortunately, we don't currently support multi-state tax filings, but we plan to next year. We look forward to supporting multi-state filings in the future.
